Ballast resistor - 86 LMC 1200

I am having difficulty locating the proper application for my cat. I have found many types and resistence. (spade connections, bolts to adapt spade, and screw terminals - also resistence from .5 to 1.9 ohms) I have been told I need to read the ohms from a meter to pinpoint the exact resistence. The cat is at the Cabin and I am 60 miles away.

It has an electronic ignition (no points) I cannot locate an ignition module so am not sure if it is Duraspark. I will try and attach a picture of it in the cat. Research has given me many opinions and the servive manual gives me a Ford numbers (N-25-1 :B8A-12250 A :FEU-12250 C) When cross referenced at most part stores I get an array of choices from .5 to 1.9 ohms and connection types.

I have found a variable resistence (.75 cold and 1.5 warm) from Mallory (#700)

Any help would be appreciated to find the correct application. I replaced the coil (std-fd-471t) but the RU-4 resistor they gave me was not correct according to the mechanic so we did not replace the current one.

Any help would be appreciated. (it is a Ford 300 IL 6) Thanks.

In case anyone is interested, here is what I found when I went up and put a meter on the coil and ballast resistor. Ballast resistor 1.6 ohms. Old coil (std-471) 1.5 ohms. New coil (std-471T)
1.3 - 1.4 ohms. Electronic Ignition is Pertronix.

I am leaning towards a Flamethrower, epoxy filled (as opposed to oil filled), 1.5 ohm internal resistance coil and a 1.6 ohm external ballast resistor from Jegs.

Any input would be appreciated. Pictures of distributor / Pertronix Ignitor attached.

In case anyone is interested. I spoke with a tech at Pertronix and he identified my electonic ignition module as a Pertronix Ignitor #1262. He also sent information on how to check the components of the system as well as specs for it's operation.

I found it an interesting read.
