WASHINGTON – Sweeping health care legislation cleared its first hurdles in the Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday as Democrats turned back a series of proposed changes by Republicans who attacked it as a threat to Medicare.

Yet even as they prevailed on politically charged votes, majority Democrats also tacitly conceded one point — that despite a pledge by President Barack Obama, some seniors who receive coverage from private insurers could lose some of the optional benefits they enjoy.

"Nobody is going to mess with your benefits. Nobody. All we do is make it better for people on Medicare," Vice President Joe Biden told about 150 people at the Leisure World retirement community in suburban Maryland.​

Confusion and fear is what this administration is depending on to push its socialist agenda forward. After Biden screwed up Obama's fear mongering about swine flu by suggesting people not travel by air or subway back in April 2009, which raised the ire of the airlines to the point where the pandemic suddenly disappeared. Hmmmm....do you think that maybe an emergency never existed? How could Biden's comments suddenly make it all go away? if a crisis does not exist they will lie to us and fabricate one to get the fear factor raised, then tell us that only the government can make it go away. Yeah, right. Ok, BHO, there is an epidemic of stupidity and partisan asskissitis in Washington. Have the gubmit make it go away.

The democrats have request (or demanded, I just heard it on the radio, no specifics) them to remove all references of the letter from their web-site.

The white house hates it when your honest. Too much government control attempts going on, we're heading for disaster if our freedom of speech is denied.

The government has deemed they are the only ones that determine truth or fiction ................ :glare:

Tell us HOW they can lose WHAT types of benefits at LEAST!

The OPTIONAL benefits are all the supplemental policies that come from companies like Humana that fill in the gaps where Medicare does not cover. The disqualification of those policies will affect nearly 25% of all seniors, they will have to pay extra under ObamaCare programs.
