History of KATRAK

OK, we have pretty complete histories of Tucker Sno Cat, Snow Trac, the whole Thiokol/LMC/DMC company, Bombardier, Kristi, and Haglund not so much on Raid Trac, Nodwell, Foremost, and Rolligon,(probably doesn't count as a "snow-cat") what's the story on KATRAK?. It looks a bit like LamTrac in design. Anyone know anything about it? Please put in your 2 cents worth. When & where were they made? By Who? How long?

Clearly the patent documents are dated 1969, but smaller print on the documents shows the patents were actually filed 2 years earlier in August of 1967, so that gives us some time reference points.

Does anyone know when these were produced, or for how long they were in production?

Hi
I worked at Katrak in Oregon for three years first doing all the production drawings from Dick Scoonovers prototype. He was a very creative man with great practical ideas. We built the K-60 as well as a two track small unit the K-10. The K-60 was also produced with a 3 cyl Ford Leman diesel.

I would think they produced about 50 K-60s and less than 10 of the K-10s. I think the patents were sold off to Star Machinery in La.

I spotted one in some ones yard in Wasilla Ak last week. Drove by it a couple of times but did not stop for pictures. I will try to get some on Tuesday.
