Buffalo NY southward to Erie PA is getting hammered. May break the national record for most snow in 24-hours.

Just spoke with some family and they're reporting 4.5 feet of snow already.

From the link, (bolding is mine)

As of the midday hours on Tuesday, an unofficial snowfall measurement of 60 inches has been recorded in the past 24 hours in Lackawanna, New York, south of Buffalo. However, snowfall of 4 feet or more has been observed in some of the south towns. Depending on the investigation of snowfall measurement activities, and if the intense snow continues through the evening Tuesday, there is a chance the 24-hour United States snowfall record may fall. That official record belongs to Silver Lake, Colorado, with 76 inches, spanning April 14-15, 1921. A report of snowfall of 77 inches in 24 hours at Montague, New York, was thrown out by officials from January 1997.

Sure am glad it is running out of snow before it gets here. From Olean west they have a lot of snow already and no end in sight. It may almost quit for 12-18 hours before a fresh round fires up again.

A slight change in wind direction shifted it from Dunkirk to right over Buffalo this morning. We are just frigging cold this morning again. Was 6 when I got up with a wind chill of -11. Up to 8 now and may get close to 20 later on.
