Justin Trudeau Approval Rating Now Below President Trump as Right Wing Parties Surge In Canada
by CHRIS TOMLINSON 20 Mar 2018

The popularity of Canadian Liberal Party Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is on a steady decline as his approval ratings have fallen below U.S. President Trump in polls as right-wing parties surge across the country.

Data from polling firm Angus Reid shows that 56 per cent of Canadians now disapprove of Prime Minister Trudeau while only 40 per cent approve, while polling firm Rassmussen shows U.S. President Donald Trump with a 47 per cent approval rating. (chart shown below)

The polling figures for the Canadian Prime Minister is a stark contrast to only a year ago when 54 per cent of Canadians approved of the actions taken by his Liberal government.

The Angus poll also shows a surge in support for the Canadian Conservative Party (CPC) and its leader Andrew Scheer who was elected to the role last year. The pollsters predict that if an election were held today, the federal Conservatives would be on course to win a majority.

Many factors have likely led to the falling approval rating for Mr. Trudeau, including a recent disastrous trip to India, which was described by critics as a family vacation, where Indian Prime Minister Modi refused to meet Trudeau at the airport and convicted Khalistan separatist terrorist Jaspal Atwal was invited to a dinner.

While the Canadian federal elections are not until 2019, two major provincial elections are set to take place in Quebec and Ontario this year, the country’s two most populous provinces.

In Ontario, former Toronto city councillor and brother of the late Toronto mayor Rob Ford, Doug Ford, won the leadership race of the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party earlier this month running on a largely populist platform promising to fight for average voters against the establishment.

Recent polls have shown Ford’s PC party are likely to win a large majority in the Ontario election in June.

Ford is up against current Liberal Premier Kathleen Wynne, who has become infamous for massively increasing the Ontario debt and for her social justice policies such as passing a bill that could allow the Ontario government to take away children if their parents do not accept their child’s chosen “gender identity”.

In Quebec, the dramatic rise of the centre-right anti-mass migration Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) has sent shockwaves through the province where the separatist Parti Québécois (PQ) and the Liberal Party have long dominated provincial politics.

While the CAQ label themselves Quebec nationalists, their leader Francois Legault ruled out any possibility of another separatist referendum in 2014. The party has been deeply critical of the Islamic full-face veil in recent months and has supported a ban on the covering.

The party has also been staunchly against mass illegal migration and the party was recently accused of being “ethnic nationalist” by Liberal Quebec Finance Minister Carlos Leitao. Liberal Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard later rejected the allegations saying he did not believe the CAQ were racists.

Recent polls show CAQ leading both establishment parties with a recent poll from March 1st, showing the party at 37 per cent.

Great news on the poll, unfortunately it's not 2019 and election time. Seems like the shine is coming off Justin , although many fall for his smile, he may be in trouble. His government just introduced a new gun control bill, which harasses law abiding gun owners ,but does nothing to curb the criminal gangs. This should unite the 2 million firearm owners in the country and hopefully drive his numbers lower.
Seventy some days until an election in Ontario, looking like a conservative win , which will put the province back on the right track to recovery.
As for Quebec , doesn't matter what government is in power , it's a welfare state that sponges off of the rest of Canada, contributing nothing to confederation, always asking for more. Having been born and raised there, always an outsider (English), allowed me to see first hand a people who's world stops at their provincial border.

J5. I couldn't have said it better myself. I have lots of family in Quebec. Even went to French school till grade 8. But I'll be the first to say that they are a bunch of hypocrites. Heck, I was in Quebec during the second referendum. If they had voted to separate we had our bags packed and were ready to leave.

Omfg. The guy is a moron. I just read that service Canada is no longer allowed to call people mr or mrs etc because it's not gender neutral and might offend some cross dressing pansy going there for service.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the Canadian electorate. Canada's media is highly controlled and dissenting views and opinions are hard to come by.

The lack of freedom of speech really has a big impact on the views in Canada.

While the media bias is bad in the US it is much worse in Canada.

Don't know about the electorate in Canada, being any different than any where else in north America, but the media is definitely left leaning. The CBC receives over a billion dollars from the government, plus earned revenue ever year, they are solidly behind the liberals.

We get about 5 Canadian stations here but the only one I watch from time to time is CBMT6 out of Montreal for Hockey Night in Canada. Been watching that for over 50 years. Awesome hockey coverage, but Don Cherry is the best there is. The man rocks:clap:

All that said, CBC news, for me, is nothing more then a Canadian CNN. They get tons of money from the Canadian Federal Gov't and it shows.

They need Don Cherry as their anchor.
