This is not a ham radio question but I'm guessing this is the place to ask this.
I'm moving away from a big city area to a much more rural area. I'd like to get an AM - Fm - Shortwave combination with FM the least important. I don't expect to have cable or dish but I've always liked radio. does anyone out there have a suggestion of a brand or model to look into. Thanks.

the C Crane company used to sell some good multi band recievers with provisions for external antennas i would think you want some thing with an external antenna.

Road King, here is a very well written article describing the radio you are looking for. Perhaps you will find some information here that you may not have thought of for selection criteria. It is written by a Ham Radio Operator who has also been a "short wave" listener for over 50 years, and offers some great insight into the purchase of one of these units. Keep in mind that Hams broadcast on the "short wave" frequencies, and you can pick up their conversations as well. You might even hear me or Don on the air as well. Good luck making a selection.

Thanks for the help. Even now with 300 channels of TV, with the exception of watching old westerns, I'd rather listen to radio, general talk, left wing talk, right wing talk I don't care. Once in a while I can find 30s and 40s radio programing. I love that stuff.
