Default Spouts for 5-gal cans to replace the POS ones.

I was doing some bitching over on NetTractorTalk about how horrible those newfangled 5-gallon gas can spouts are. I spill 100 times as much fuel with those compared to a straight through spout.

I didn't know it but you can buy straight spouts now.
They're available at Tractor Supply, Rural King, E-bay...

Look for EZ-Pour Universal Replacement Spout Kit
They come in a couple models. Regular, Hi-Flo and a water one (for those that live in commie states and can't buy them for "gas" cans).
Here's a couple examples.

I'm going to go buy a pile of them.

Before they get banned by some gubmint agency

Some of the new style spouts can be easily "broken" to freely flow. The lever style spouts that require you to press down on a lever, while holding the fuel can with the other hand, can have their little plastic internal lock snapped out with a pair of needle nose pliers. They then work just like a regular high flow spout.

I'll be breaking those POS ones once I get the replacements. Didn't want to mess with them unless/until I had another solution in case I ruined it.

I bought some of those online, can't remember the name of the place. Anyways they worked quite well on some of the cans and not so well on some of the others. I broke one trying to keep tightening it so it wouldn't leak. I found the best solution was to add the air vent plug. You can pick those up on eBay. By doing that the safety thing isn't really bad since the fuel flows better. I actually switched some of spouts back because they kept leaking. Just thought I'd warn you before you drop a fortune in those spouts and the results aren't all that great.

Thanks for the heads-up k-dog. These do come with a vent plug you add to your can.

I just ordered a 10-pack of vent caps for the 6 cans that I have w/o vents. The cans with vents flow nicely, so I'm sure these will help. 10 were only $6.86 shipped. Thanks for the tip.

Now, if someone would make an add on handle so one could actually pour fuel without spilling I would be a happy camper.
