A new project?

OK, what can I do with this one? Was on duty at Brundage Mountain about 20 years ago. Runs well and all it needs is a fuel tank cleaning and a new battery.

I dunno, that last one looks nice but it might be a bit of overkill. Just a little bit.

transmission swap?

For recreational , no grooming, use, what about swapping the 4 speed for an automatic c4, c6 or AOD? or a nice marine grade 351W I have for the 300-6?

In your opinion,

Would the OC 12 take the diesel all day and night?

with a full compliment of butts in the seats.......

while pulling a large mini fridge

Dragging home the new Thiokol 2100B

Can anyone give me some tips on de-tracking a 2100B to fit on a 8' trailer? Can one person do it? With tracks it's 4-6" too wide for standard online permit and will need one for over-oversized and will need at least one escort car.

Certainly can be done by one person if you have access to a skid steer or tractor or lift of some sort. Position the splice by the rear sprocket and if the machine drives, drive it out of the one track. Then you need to roll the track up and this is where a lift helps flop the end over, and ideally a set of forks positioned behind the track you pick up the edge and roll forward over and over till you get to the other end. Wire strap or tie the end so not to flop down.

A second person really helps. You can even roll the track up with a winch from one end just takes longer.

The OC12 would probably take the punishment but the axles are weak on the 2100.
It's the first 'cat I ever drove. Grooming at Attitash around 1980. Had an axle break on a moderate slope with a powder-maker behind me. Couldn't go forward, couldn't roll back, had no emergency brake. I was stuck there holding the sticks until someone could bring another machine.

Alone, no loader:
I have had success driving onto the trailer in such a manner that splices are on top.
Pull the inside pins first.
Jack up the machine and come along the tracks out from under it.
used a high lift jack to stand them up...
Pulled one forward, Pulled the other to the rear.
It sucked but....
unloading sucked equally as well.

three people the day after st patricks day is not enough either..... even with a large skid steer just saying.:whistling:

How bad do you want it.

I guess the diesel version of the 2100 had a 384 CI engine, similar weight.

sitting and waiting is frustrating, almost like there is a reduction on the second hand slowing the minutes down..

should we start a pool to see what he does with it?

A sweet ride?

We got the old girl running today with no issues except a clogged fuel filter. The 2nd previous owner after Brundage Mountain, a local circuit judge, had the engine and OC12 fully rebuilt and then passed away before he could get it out on the snow. Last owner wanted to find elk in the back mountains of his ranch but never got it on the snow either. So good engine, working hydraulics, great trans and clutch. No rust or body damage except for the hood tie down rubbers. All the original Thiokol gauges work. Nice original upholstery too. So it will need a new windshield and a new set of tires- maybe some track belting. All in all I'm pretty happy with this one. Now to get it back to McCall.:hammer:

Can anybody find the production date info? Serial looks to be 367.
