Whats a tune that you love from that decade?

Personally I love the early eighties. I think my favorites are between Miami Vice and Arthurs Theme. :thumb:

Murph have you been sniffing more freon?:poke: 70s was the Disco era. 80s was when we had good music. We had Rick Springfield, Def Leppard, Warrant, Poison, John Mellencamp (before he woosed out). Oh my, lost of great music in the 80s.

The music of the 80's was so special.
We'll never have a time like that again.

Most of the stuff played on pop radio today turns me off.

It's either early 70's, 80's or rock and some metal for me.

No freon is too expensive. I found this stuff in a can that works well. Your right it was the later 70's that Disco stuff came. But excuse me cause I missed the 80's :w00t: :bonk:

Okay, I'll give you the Beatles -- the EARLY Beatles ... not the final years.

You've got to be kidding me..
The final years were the best ever!

Just compare "Love Me Do"

to "Don't Let Me Down" (second song in the second video)
icon13.gif
and you'll see that there is no comparison.

Oh, and I agree about Yoko. If it wasn't for her, chances are that John MIGHT still be alive today.

I'll jump in and show my age.
I'll side with Sir Knight in that the 60's were by far the best years of GREAT rock and roll. 70's were next. I had a hard time thinking of anything I liked from the 80's, like Murph I think I missed alot of it. At that time our kids got into music and that impacts our listening habits. When I first saw the thread all I could think of was Cyndi lauper girls just wanna have fun, and New Kids on the Block kind of crap.
John Cougar Mellencamp would be my favorite from the early eighties. Bruce went mainstream and the greatful dead had a top forty hit. Big hair bands were the thing. Van Halen w/ David Lee Roth rocked with Jump. So now that my memory has been jogged the 80's had some good stuff, but not near as much as either the 70's or 60's.
The 60's with the stones, the who, the kinks, the yardbirds, jeff beck, bot dylan, crosby, stills & nash, Neil Young, ccr, the allman brothers, blind faith, the cream, the doors, zepplin and the beatles had us rocking all the time. And there are so many more great bands I can't think of right now. Music in the 60's was a magic time wihen it all came together.

1st, and foremost would be Stevie Ray Vaughn. Amazing, incredible, awesome guitarist, with a solid backing from Double Trouble. If only he had not died in that helicopter crash. He'd be kickin Clapton and the rest behinds!

I got to see him. He was so awesome :brows:

He even did nursery rhymes

I have always been a big Journey fan. Anything from them in the early 80's would be good.

Neal Schon is a highly under rated guitarist. He can do some pretty amazing stuff, from rock to jazz. Heck, he was playing/touring with Carlos Santana when he was 15.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ztq__WSidM&feature=related"]YouTube - paul rodgers & neil schon live 1993[/ame]

Steve Smith was an awesome drummer for them. He is a very very good drummer, even compared to Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. Neil Per and Steve Smith are a couple of the only drummers to rank with Rich....

Early 80's was also while Greg Rollie was still around. When Jonathon Caine came in, he brought too much pop to their recordings. While they sold more records, it still was not like the early Schon/Rollie Journey that came about after Santan's Abaraxa(Greg Rollie sang and played keyboards on Black Magic Woman, and the rest of Abaraxas for that matter).

Schon and Rollie reunite; Rollie sining a reprise of his Santana stint, with Neal playing as when he was 15...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYur5CnvWdA&feature=related"]YouTube - abraxas (neil schon) black magic woman gypsy queen[/ame]

Of course, Hank Williams Jr was kickin out some good stuff back then too. And didn't get as drunk on stage so often then. Reba was coming in to her own too.

It's tough, I like too many types of music to just pick a single band or song...

He was the best of the best back then. One of the few bright spots of that music decade. :hide:

I got to see him also. 1 year before the crash. :(
