Huh?!

no center pin.

must be a spool. Kind of bizaro. I guess the basket clutches have been working hard in in every automatic trans ever....

I have looked into these, and my conclusion is it will work, but I think electric coil life will be short because of overheating, because the use of them more frequently than intended in this design.

we ran a borg warner product in the race truck years back and the coils gained heat altering the engagement parameters to the point of pissing the driver off. I put a PWM driver on the coils and the current was reduced and the clutch life was no change in wear. ( I attribute the clutch wear ) to the timing of the limit switches. the BW engineers lacked common sense.. the driver lacked patience. and the electrician ignored both and made the ball ramps last and tolerate the 8-900HP

Pine Stump. most yamaha snow mobile heated handle grips will be a cheap source of Pulse WIdth modulated drivers. if you want to play with current control.

What do you think of two high amp PWM motor controllers before my on-off relays? I could then adjust my clutch pressures kinda like trailer brakes.

My plan B is to import GAZ-71 parts. The russian ruble is at its lowest in five years and the drunk frog needs to go through the 12 step program anyways.
