I am intrigued by the Russian Bolt on tracks ( posted elsewhere in thsi forum)
These two links give a small idea with subtitles.
I am wondering what makes the unit steer and brake.. any thoughts?
They make it look easy but in looking at the turn capability how does
an open differential handle that kind of torque? Seems like they would throw a track at those speeds and turns.
They also look quite powerful and I just can't see that kind of torque
coming from a fiat looking lightweight platform

any opinions...

they steer by braking one side, they are using the front steering to activate a master cylinder for each side which in turn applies one or the other disc brakes in the rear it does work but you need a heavy differential to handle the stress a 2.5 ton differential from a duece works great.

From the video, it looks like the differential (and braking mechanism) comes with the unit. Take the drive shaft off of the host vehicle's rear differential and drop it down to the differential on the platform?

First video had a graphic from an advertisement, there are three models.

(had help trying to decipher russian from grainy picture - note: tanslator is Ukranian, not Russion, there are differences)

CBM-1 for Rear Drive Vehicle, up to 1.3 Tonnes
CBM-2 for Front Drive Vehicle, up to 1.3 Tonnes
CBM-3 for Rear Drive Vehicle, up to 2 Tonnes

Priced reasonably at $15000... for what???

http://metelitsa74.ru

for some frame parts, some suspension & wheels... and an axle with 2 large size brake rotor setups?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (forgive my long Hmmmmm)

But I bet I could make that myself fairly inexpensive, at least under $15k...
