I'm restoring #1928 and need a door latch/mechanism. Does anyone know a source or have a good original?

I don't think I need any other parts. Big Lake MN

If you know what the original set up looks like, I would try looking in a tractor salvage yards in your area, as some of the older stuff used a latch like the Snow Trac. "Year Around" brand cabs from the 60's and 70's (aftermarket) used a very similar latch mechanism.

The latch is square, maybe 2.5" and about 1" thick. It has a round hole with a bushing in it with a square hole for the operating rod going through it. There is a small square shaft that goes through this the handels attach to....

The square "hole" is normally a standard size - 5/16" on mine. If it is, it is pretty easy to find an L- or T-handle with or without a lock online.

If the square rod on the handle is too long, it is easy to cut to the right length. This type of handle is standard on garage doors, RV doors, and office cabinetry. I tracked down a place that sold me four handles keyed a like - but can't remember where. Some handles come in left and right but most are universal.
