Did you ever try that? Did it work? If not there is a place called Sewell Direct that sells cables. I've bought a couple from them. https://sewelldirect.com/

Mixed results. Worked fine on a few cables and was loose on a few. Didn't hold up very well on cables that were temporary, plugged in and unplugged several times.

Overall useful but not a magic fix for everything!
