The first part of this reminds me of my high school. 1973 I had my parents permission to go deer hunting before school . I was to be in school on time unless I shot a deer, and then there had better be a deer hanging in garage if I was late. My "hunting vehicle " was a Volkswagon Bug. Not a good place to keep my rifle really secure and invisible. One of my teachers ,also a hunter, said why don't you lock it in your locker in the hall. Never had a problem carrying my unloaded deer rifle down the hall and putting it in my locker. Never even got second looks from anyone. I always left all the ammo in my car. I was president of our high school Fish and Game club. We reloaded ammo at school,( imagine gunpowder and primers), Put on a turkey shoot for a fund raiser. Built our own traphouse for the turkey shoot and manned it. We did have advisors, but they gave us pretty much free reign as long as we did everything safely. Certainly a different time than now.

I am not the nostalgic type, but you have made me long for the old days with that story.

Our school Sportsmen’s Club had a reloading room and guns were regularly shown off during meeting on school property. It’s a different world sadly!

I took my 12 gauge shotgun to grade school many time when I was 12 years old to go hunting after school. The nun had me put it in the cloakroom. No problems at all.

Dad picked me up when he got off work.
