There were only a few places I really wanted to see, Fountains Abbey is one of those. It was beyond description as it was overwhelming in size and scope. The property includes a walking trail that is a couple miles long around the gardens. It would be easy enough to spend a lifetime studying the ruins of the Abby, we probably have a 100 or more photos of this place, but these give you a basic idea of what is there. The Abbey was destroyed by King Henry VIII after he got his panties in a bunch because he was not granted a divorce so he went on a spree to loot all the churches, convents and abbeys in his lands. This is a casualty of the war he waged.
