Default 1958 Snow Transmission

Did the early Snow Trac use a 211 VW bus transmission with the flipped ring gear as used with the portal type reduction gears? 1963 Snow Trac parts book shows part #211 300 039.

From what I've learned, yes. Until the drop box bus went away. then they used the normal bus and reversed the gear to achieve the same effect.

Thanks. So...now planning on a Rancho built tunnel case transaxle with 3.44 ring and pinion, an Ecotec 2.4 with about 200 mild horses and new tracks and guide wheels with re-engineered sprockets and disc brakes to hopefully reach that magical 30mph mark at least once.

111 is "Bug", 211 VW prefix to the part number is "Bus & Transporter"
