figured I'd clear up some stuff on the Br100+ , you were saying the 100+'s have a drop dive axle similar to a unimog axle. they don't have have that unfortunately, the use a planetary gear set that is inside the diff housing. a short side axle runs from the Bombi/Br100 diff ( which there is 2 versions of as well, the newer carriers like mine have 45 tooth side axle gears and 13 tooth pinions which are hard to find, older models use a 30 tooth side axle gear and 9 tooth pinions which seem to be easy to get) to the planetary gear set then another side axle runs to the sprocket.
here is that setup,
I would rather a bombi diff honestly, the gears in the steering part of the diff are cheaper and easier to find and I changed out my stock 5.89 ring and pinion set to a 4.27 set to gain some speed. the 4.27 gears with the planetarys of the br100 gives me an overall ratio pretty close to a bombi with its stock 5.89 gears but now I have a bunch more parts that can fail and they are all expensive and getting harder to find.
if my planetary sets give any more trouble I am going to remove them and get 2 axle shafts made to go right from the diff to the sprockets and put my 5.89 gears back in.
