our family have several of these and ones that you place in the ear...

Not one of them to I trust to be accurate. Even the newest stick type oral would never get up to 98 deg in my mouth. It was the more expensive of the two choices I had.. crap right out of the package.

What I really wish is that I might stumble upon an old mercury type still around. They are still the standard for accuracy in my opinion.

So what do you use, and how well does it work?

Perhaps your body temp hovers around 97.3 like mine.
Orals are still out there in pharmacies.
I use digital and at work, the WelchAllyn portable w/covers.
