The economy shed a net total of 95,000 jobs last month, as weak hiring by private employers wasn't enough to offset widespread government layoffs. The unemployment rate, which is calculated from a different survey, held at 9.6 percent. But with the economy likely to remain weak for the rest of this year, many economists expect the rate to keep climbing in the coming months and potentially top 10 percent next year.

But the jobs crisis is affecting some people more than others. Here's how it breaks down among different groups, along with other details from the government's report:

UNEMPLOYMENT RATE BY GROUP:

Some college: 9.1
College graduates: 4.4

DURATION OF UNEMPLOYMENT

JOB CHANGES BY SECTOR:

Are we supposed to cheer the gubmit for reductions of 159,000? Temporary census workers should not be counted in gains or in losses, as they are hired and fired every 10 years for a couple of months. They are essentially meaningless numbers. Local gubmit job cuts are a direct result of the failed policies of the Obama agenda which continues to keep the country in the dumper and are keeping local tax revenues down because so many people are unemployed or underemployed.

"The Government shed 159,000 jobs reflecting both a drop in temporary jobs related to the Census and job losses in local government. Economists were expecting more job losses at the local government level, as state governments continue to face heavy deficits and are starting to make steep cuts to education."

I see things getting real ugly following the election, especially if the tables are turned on Obama's support base, and his lame dick minions will have two short months to deliver on more of his suppressive and oppressive policies, which effectively could take us from recession right into depression...also part of his plan.

I'm surprised Obama didn't move Xmas to September so he could have shown a rise in employment before the elections. Mark my words, the democrats will exploit the holiday season hiring as recovery!
