Christmas in New York:
A lot in the heart of SoHo is selling jumbo-sized trees at prices that would clean out Ebenezer Scrooge's pockets.
Timber hawker Scott Lechner, 53, charges as much as $900 for Christmas trees he ships from the Blue Mountains in North Carolina to his temporary business on Sixth Ave. and Spring St.
"A regular tree is beautiful, but one of our jumbos is majestic," Lechner said Saturday. "It's not just a tree, it's an experience. And it's worth every penny."
While most shoppers would spit out eggnog in disbelief at the prices, Lechner said he's making bank off his branches.
Since opening shop Friday, he has sold 40 trees between 12 and 17 feet in height. A 12-foot Fraser fir retails for about $400, and a 17-footer goes for $900.
His clients have been celebrities, a Facebook executive and SoHo residents.
The same types of trees can be found at a fraction of the price in Brooklyn.
