So, I am going to get penalized (E.G. not get government freebies) for taking a mortgage I can afford and choosing a bank that doesn't sell their mortgages on the open market.

Hey i am in the same boat. As far as I am not getting ' bailed out '.

I do not look at it as being penalized so much as, well, the gov. is defiintly going forward with the plan. So lets see who and how they are bailing out.

I am not a big fan of this bailout anyway. As I think that people should have been more resonsible in the first place. But. At least they are not looking to bail out vacation homes. It looks like ther may be some decently tight criteria for who qualifies to get bailed out.
