Cardinal sins of computing

I seen tons of Seagate hard drive failures - usually on drives that aren't that old. Toshibas seems to be hit or miss but usually a hit. I use to always recommend and only install Western Digitals, but even they seem to be going down hill lately. I think some of is more and more are Chinese made vs. Japanese made and I think that has cost quality no matter what the specs say. I also think the fact that they are packing them tighter and tighter in the same size to get more capacity has caused a lower MTBF. Just like using a tractor or a truck to capacity, yeah, you might do it for awhile, but how much are you shortening its lifespan?

I may be too late for the party and to rescue your drive but here's a tip.

When your drive goes click click click, it means that it's seeking and can't find the track. Why? It's out of alignment (in most cases.)

Ok, what makes it go out of alignment?

Simple. Re-torque the screws on the (top) cover. You'll need a torque screwdriver for that. This may be your problem seeing that it's not that old.
