Friend saved a nice specimen from PA and brought back to N.H.

Nice original running survivor. Needs tracks but real nice otherwise.

New owner should be one here soon.

#138

Please share any info you have especially where to get new belting. Grousers look real nice.

This is makes me the only witness to two Kristi’s running and moving under their own power on east and west coast.

Possibly the only person to drive a torpedo on each coast also.

Welcome Kristi KT-3!

I love it! Nice find!
It looks to have the later, dual port engine in it.
Lot of fun and adventure left in that one!

Wow, that is a very nice looking Kristi. Polish up that fiberglass and it will look like new. Nice find.

Mine were not as nice as that, but I owned 2 -KT3s and one KT4 that all moved under their own power all at the same time. Plus the KT4 that I bought from Big AL that is still a project. I have since sold the 2 KT3s. There is at least one of us that was as crazy as Big Al. If you never met him first hand you missed out. So unfortunate we lost him.

Correction on prior home. This Kristi came from The Snowmobile Barn Museum in New Jersey.

Colorado State Patrol had number 137 and 139 so a guess would be maybe they got 138 also?

Built 10/28/1964

6/25/1963 is the birthday for the two Colorado State Patrol machines. I highly doubt that #138 went to the State Patrol also. I would guess that the Cheyenne Water Department ordered it.

That forward-facing back seat is a curious feature. That means all occupants need to climb over a seat to get in.
Odd indeed.

Thanks for the info where did you find that ?

I did some detective work on the registry... Upon further investigation I am not sure if there is an error or an odd coincidence. #145 was built 10/28/1963 exactly a year before this machine. #151 has the same birthday as this machine though so the original purchaser could be the same.

Either way glad to see a nice clean example east of the Mississippi!

As a fellow KT owner I would encourage the owner of this cat to remove the headlights from that position before vibrations cause their weight to break a big hole in the side of the cowl, and, to build a pair of the "wide drive Cogs" so the grousers don't get broken from the constant bending induced by these narrow ones.

Could you fill me in on Wide Drive Cogs? I need to do something about the drives on one of my KT4's Thanks

If you look at the last photo posted by Vintagebike you can see that there is a "shoulder" extending about 1.5 inches on either side of each sprocket "tooth". This gives a LOT MORE support to the grousers and prevents the flexing and subsequent breaking of each grousers where the belting begins.
I believe the late production KTs got those as well as the factory refurbished models.
The drive sprockets appear to be solid rubber forklift tires with the sprocket teeth cut into them.
The early, narrow sprockets have no shoulder beside the teeth and chew up the grousers pretty quickly.

Thanks,

I get the idea now. Does anyone know if the drive sprocket has been completely machined out of some of the modern plastics available now days , what they used and if it was successful ?
