mccall bound for reunion

wouldn't you know it. our reunion is in McCall this weekend. 7 hr dive.
what is a good place to stamp an id on something incase it disappears? i have a large navy periscope on my carport that is on a tripod with wheels . i see no serial number just the model and make that the navy put on it. should any id be hidden?
