What a HELL of a day that was!!! It was against terrible odds what we took those beaches. If not for the absolute bravery and ingenuity of our troops, it would have been an abject failure.

GOD was with us that day.

My Dad's older brother was a jumper with the 82nd on D-Day. Stayed in for a 30 stint.
My Father also had a close friend that landed on Omaha. He was the only man in his platoon to survive. He got calls on holidays for many a year from relatives of his lost buddies asking if he had seen their loved one fall. Understandably that broke him up. Hellava nice guy. I still think of him.
