Here's the real thing! Musk Ox roam the hillsides of SW Greenland and can really scare you when you are hiking out there, as there are no trees to climb. This photo was taken during one of my Greenland expeditions.

O.K. so we made it back......... The history on this machine as we know it.

They were built for the US Army as a testing unit that was pulled behind the tested vehicle IE.( Tanks) with load cells attached between the Musk Ox and the tested vehicle and as they varied the terrain hills, sand, mud,Etc. in the proving grounds of Aberdeen,MD. they would apply resistance in the four brakes on the Musk Ox and take the readings of what the tested rig could pull. The machine has a weight of 62,000 pounds but it has a track area of 32,000 square inchs so under 2psi that is extreemly low for a machine of this
size. No not a deep powder machine but still good for soft mud and sand and Tundra and our Midwest snows which seem not to happen anymore.
It is powered by a Cummins Turbo 903CI. V-8 and a Allison automatic and we are told it will do 50mph ....... to match the tanks speed....wow the front cab will hold about 24 people and it has it own self contained heat and air conditioner . which is run by a on board 3-phase generator has high and low range which powers two Rockwell diffs. and it connects and articulates in the middle. Rated at 70,000 pound of pull it has has 6 speeds forward.

Well we will get it running good and offer it forsale we were talking last week with a customer in the farnorth reaches of Canada and they said it would be a great machine for their Polar bear tours. Could just see it with a upper deck
at 50 MPH on the open Tundra........ Our you could use it as a mobile office or remote cabin that when you get sick of the veiw you move it. it would also have it place on the North Slope area as a transport.

Brad what are you guys asking for it?

Well we have not considered yet we are really questioning the end use of this monster it is not something you are going to tow around will my 1Ton we are considering selling the 500 Hp diesel and 6 speed Allison transmission from the rear unit and mounting a smaller 200 Hp Diesel transversely in the back of the front unit and converting it to hydrostatic then you could take the back unit and use it as a trailer or another covered Cabin.....

But since we have over a Dozen other machine to rebuild first we would be open to offers by the way the US Army paid 1,250,000.00 for it new Engine and transmission are worth 20,000 for the pair only 400 hours
