I give this Priest a huge amount of credit. Here he is telling the city council of Pensicola FL that they were wrong, the chairman ruled him in violation, and the Priest stands his ground. 3 or 4 officers approach, he stands his ground. He was given 4 minutes. He stood there for his 4 minutes.

One of the council members, disgusted by the actions of her own city council, stands up and leaves the assembly, declaring that she is going outside to listen to the concerns and grievances of the audience because (presumably) they are not allowed to air their concerns inside town hall.

This Priest and that council woman are now on my HERO list!

Seems like some folks let their egos run rampant and forget what country they are in. Any time they restrict the folks from addressing them we edge closer to socialism.:hammer:

Nope thats a common way that priests walk with there hands clutched behind them , at least from my experience when i was an alterboy many moons ago..

Glad to see him and the council lady stand up for whats right for a change. :applause:

IMO there needs to be laws in place that control the actions of those in our governments and hold them accountable for this kind of misuse of authority, all to often they seem to forget that they are working FOR the American people and have no "real" authority OR power.

The fact that they think they are above the laws all the rest of us have to follow is a complete disgrace and IMO he should have been fired on the spot. :glare:

As an alter boy myself I don't remember that. Seems we always were carrying something.

We had an elected official get cocky on TV over a dispute and his exact words was "How dare them to question an elected official" He is now gone as was not re-elected.

My business is located in Pensacola and I've been to a few of the city council meetings in my time. The last one was when they were making a huge land grab and were trying to put a corridor (Interstate) through the neighborhood that I live in. Hundreds of people showed up to discuss the problem but the council wouldn't recognize anyone. They told the crowd that a special meeting would be held just for this issue and to not bring it up in this meeting. That didn't stop some from trying though, and as expected they were promptly escorted out.

The corridor was eventually defeated (for the 3 time) and everything settled down. But I guarantee, it will come back up, just like it did that last 2 times, and the council will try once again to ram it down the throats of the citizens. There is BIG money to be made and a lot of these guy's stand to prosper well.

Hats off to the priest, he held his ground well. Too many sheep, not enough sheep dogs.

 for Father Monk. The security guard did not look at all thrilled at the prospect of having to escort the Father out.

If only it was as easy as firing them. It is more so that they must be voted out of office. Which is sometimes a long and daunting exercise with one-man, one-vote.

Watching the video and seeing Father receive the treatment he did broke my heart to pieces.
Makes me feel so proud to be a Catholic and one who sides with folks like himself.

I was smiling at the end, though. :D
Good post Bob.
Thank you.
