for no good reason, I went with 111. Boy that messed up the outcome. :)

It works with that number as well. At least it did for me. When you got to the end, enter '0' and you still get the correct response (which is a clue to the whole thing).

I didn't work for me...I did 123 as it said 3 or 4 numbers. It came up with 6 as my third number. Don't think so.

The applied algorithm works all the time but the math along the way has to be correct.

I figured the 0 had some sort of importance to the equation. Why else would they say not to choose it? Anywho, I'm still curious how it worked. One of the times I did it, when it says to subtract larger from smaller the difference was 999. Not to hard to do that one.:D

If you want the answer in an easy fashion, do a google search for "casting out nines".

There's similar sites to the one in the beginning of this thread that use hieroglyphics or other symbols to do the same trick but bases its result on the math answers you provide. Same concept.
