Rescue Cat first time out for real

Not a time out like with our kids, first time out to do a real rescue. Yesterday I picked up the cat after having our shops sort out the fuel system, install radios, and mark it with some official looking decals.

Today we needed it. 2 fellas from the city got themselves turned around on a hike and ended up lost, in 4 feet of snow. They were cold and wet. cell phone 911 GPS put them at a radio site that has a road to it.

So we dragged the cat up there and got them. It ran great after the carb and fuel system overhaul. Even bumped into the engine speed governor a few times.

Picked the fellas up and drove them back. Sure beat the heck out of a hike or snowmobile ride.

Need to fix the heaters though. The heater valve won't shut off and the cab was so hot you could bake a cake in there.

Here are some pics and a short video. Oh and we need a name for it. Has to be clean. Sorry, I know that will rule out a lot of great ideas.

I'm guessing those city boys were pretty happy to endure the extra heat, after their ordeal. Most people don't realize what a challenge 4 feet of snow can be.

Well it made an impression on me when I stepped out of the cat and sunk up to my waist.

More fun driving than walking.
