Are we talking football or baseball here? I was assuming football.
RNE - Pittsburgh doesn't care much about the Pirates. Being a traditionally blue-collar area, we prefer more "physical" sports. Oh, and we're the current champions of both football and hockey...

Football, but threw that in 
We have pretty well rounded sports out here(N Calif). Best team overall is Sacramento Rivercats. They're Triple-A Pacific League baseball. They have done exceptionally well since they cam to Sac 10 years ago.
Football is big, but the 49ers and especially Raiders, are nothing like their past. And only the Giants are holding their heads up; the A's are in last place in their division. And the Sac Kings, well they just stunk last season.
