get me a picture of it so i can identify it i would bet it would be a small frame ford alternator but could be a motorola or pretolight

that's easy it's a small frame motorcraft alternator with external regulator take it to napa they can test it and get you a new one same as i think from about 1968 to 1986 ford engines trucks cars and everything else with out a/c also if the alt is bad pick up the new style solid state regulator and ditch the old point style you likely have .
