Today I received a forward from an old friend from both the cooking forum and here. Smoke King.
I suspect his computer might be infected with a virus or something.
Stupid me, I clicked on the link, and since then I've been getting failure notices from everyone on MY mail list.. so sorry if any of you have gotten anything.
So far my computer is working fine.

That's what it was Jeff.. it was like something with CNN at the top of the page with a lot of other junk.
Deleted it then mailed him to ask him about it.
No reply.
Thanks for letting me know.
CG just told me she thinks my email was hacked, so I don't know what to do.
Before when it happened, I had to create a sign-in seal to protect it.
God sakes!

Got the business opportunity baloney from you. Didn't click on it because I already knew it was a scam.

Wish I'd have had the brains to know that.
Simply thought Bob was sending me a forward of some sort.

Now all of my email replies and subscribed thread replies to this and other forums are going in the spam folder.
Nice.

Now the shit is starting to roll in from Facebook, and I don't even do Facebook.
Fuck it.. time to do a full scan and update windows.
What fun.
Good Night.

I got hit with something like this a few months ago. The virus kept sending incredibly inappropriate Viagra advertisements to EVERYONE on my email contacts list. Boy, did that take some explainin'.

In any event, the only alternative was to delete my ENTIRE contacts list from my system. Took me hours to write down all of the name/address info for everyone and then dump the whole contacts enchilada. The virus still lives in my computer, and to this day I still need to delete a contact every time it is added to my list. The only name on the list now is my own. I have one contact that is safe to keep on file. Me.

I feel your pain, PG. Typing in email addresses by hand every time I send an email message sux. Getting zapped by a hacker sux.

They deserve to die a slow, painful death.

The first name in my address book is the letter A with an email address of AAA@ AAAAA. That messes up most of these type of bugs. The facebook one was a hoot PG!:whistling::yum::yum:

I had a similar thing happen to me about a year ago. I evenutally cleared it out. Can't remember exactly how but I managed to do it after many hours of swearing and cursing.

I never was one to forward any type of chain email. I rarely get them now days and the instant I figure it's a chain email, the delete button gets used. If I keep getting spam from someone, I just block them.

Thanks for the instruction this morning concerning the AAA@___ thing.
Did that, then removed several old contacts, none of the people from this forum though... but I did remove the original person as a contact who got the whole ball running.
Checked the emails tonight.. just the normal spammy crap, IN the spam folder.
Something worked. :yum:

Oh and NO the facebook one was NOT a hoot!! :hammer::hammer::hammer::yum:

Scans came up with nothing that would indicate a virus.. and believe me, I checked every single thing.

I know it did Larry, and I'm sorry hun.
Hope you haven't gotten anything else.
Someone else told me today to add !0000 as the new name as contact in my address book and that would take care of things too... to thwart this kind of thing from further happening.
We'll see.
