While we get lots of stuff from China, the state of California is still a major producer of GARLIC. I'm not sure about the Canadian label laws, but here in the US we have food labels that indicate the nations of origin of many of our foods.

BTW, much of the HONEY available, especially the lower priced brands, comes from China now. We tend to buy both low priced honey for general use (which may well be from China) and we also buy locally made small batch honey.

Sadly it is hard to find products that are produced locally or regionally, no matter what the product.

This is the brand we buy => http://www.christopherranch.com/products/index.htm

Its from California. Not sure if they also import Chinese garlic, but they have big garlic farms and co-founded a big garlic festival in GILROY, CA, the garlic capital of the USA.

Bob

Nope, they don't import, they grow their own right there in Gilroy. Great stuff, if you like garlic.

P.S. If you ever get a chance to go to their Garlic festival, two pieces of advise: 1) GO!! It's a hoot!, and; 2) DON'T try the ice cream!!!! You'll thank me later.

I'd love to go to the Gilroy Garlic Festival, it would be sort of like visiting a culinary mecca

We love garlic in our house. We roast fresh cloves with a bit of olive oil and salt (wrap in aluminum foil) until they are tender and then spread them on bread like you spread butter on bread. VERY GOOD.

We add garlic to most everything we cook. Smother roasted lamb with garlic and BBQ it on the grill. Add chopped garlic to homemade bruchetta mix. Spoon chopped garlic into soups and stews. Toss cubed potatoes with garlic and oil and roast. Make garlic tomato roast as a side dish. etc etc etc

You simply cannot be married to a Polish woman and not eat garlic.

Impossible.

As for honey, learn something about it. Look up the honey board. We use honey in some products, and only buy US harvested honey. It matters.

Yeh............... But........ can I still post?

Don't we raise anything here anymore?
I know we don't make many things here..

Sad.
I have plenty of wild garlic that I dig out of the yard.

As others have mentioned, Gilroy. You can tell you're getting close 5 miles from town.

I have never made it to the festival. But, even just passing thru, the stores there have everything garlic you could imagine, and more.

Should be able to find them locally, at a garden center, home store or Home Depot kinda place.
