Very expensive Marine Corp Knife

Since there is no knife section in the Forums I thought I would put this here:

For years the Marine Corp has been using the Ka-Bar knife.

A knife which a civilian may obtain for less than $80
Now they are issuing a folding titanium wonder known as the

$300 for folding knife. Do you think it is worth it?

I think the time to take it out of the sheath and unfold it could be the difference between life and death.

I doubt many would carry this knife in its supplied sheath. The pocket clip is very secure on today's tactical pocket knives, eliminating the need for a sheath.

According to the Strider website, the blade carries a price tag of $495, which is because it has been specified by the government who could care less about how their decisions affect cost. http://www.striderknives.com/produc..._id=33&zenid=5f7a618e55f61d7bf4a1b24b201ca11e

I carry a Kershaw Cryo II with spring assist, and can deploy this knife much quicker than a traditional sheathed knife. I deploy it using the finger tang, but some like the thumb button. Either way, once the blade begins to open, a flick of the wrist deploys and locks the blade quickly. It all comes down to practice, practice, practice.

They have different models I wasn't quite sure which one the Marines use. It does look as if they also use the Ka-Bar as well.
I have nothing against folding knives I usually carry a Spyderco folder.

But 300 to 500 Bucks for a knife? Nope I don't care if it lasts for hundreds of years because people don't last for hundreds of years.

If it keeps our guys alive I don't care. They can always pass the knife on to the next Marine. I carry a Swiss Army knife for various reasons. Not good for defense because it would take too long to get it out of my pocket and unfold it.
