A scientific fact, It is an equation that ends in 2.250" more than the tape will go. It does not matter the distance, the tape will bend ate.e50" before reaching the target. The same happens when extending the tape from the target. The clip will release just as you reach a measurement2.250" short and before you can read the dimension on the tape. Repeating the process is futile.
To use this equation simple add 2.250" to whatever measurement is on the tape at the dispenser. Caution, Do not employ swag in your calculations.
This works in all situations and all temperatures with one notable exception. When the wife is watching you do it.....it becomes a null number.
I have tested this theory for over 50 years. Still technically a theory but I'm running with it.
