Allright, here's the skinny. I have been traveling the Salcha River by boat and snowmachine to our cabin and now cabin'S for over 25 years. This Snocat thing started years ago when a friend aquired a Haagllund. Then an old couple Dick and Kati, who live up there year round finally got there Snotrack up and running. And then Jimmy, my next door neighbor springs this 1404 he just finished restoring on me this last fall. All the while i'm wanting a snocat every time i see one. Telling myself, I GOTTA HAVE ME ONE OF THOSE! Now the last four years Mary and I have been building our winter home up there. It's been alot of fun. Now Mary, I taught her how to ride snowmachines. I have been riding them for 48 years now. She has only been riding, I think this is her 4th winter. Well she finally tipped over and broke her arm. Now you may see where this is going. Jimmy finally shows up to his cabin next door while i'm falling some dead trees in the yard while Mary is in town recouperating. You guessed it in his Imp. The broken arm and -20 and -30 below temps now and then on snogo's, well I think it's time. So After all that I have my own 1404. Bout Time! Thanks to Bill @ snowtrans, Boogie @ Mn Outdoors, Jim @ peterson, and all you here on the Forum and Mike in SLC who I bought mine from, I'm SnoCat'n. I will post pics of our adventures up the Salcha River. We all like Picture's. Here is the begining.
The 3-4 in the middle don't count...right?
That is a once in a lifetime project. Nope! I'll never do that again. It was easier than a person thinks though. A little self motivation goes along ways. And knowing how to handle 60 hog logs without gettin run over.
And a few Cat's hangin around town.
