One of the sure signs that we’re getting down to nut cutting time is when you start seeing subjects of an investigation pointing fingers and one another and beating a path to the door of the people conducting an investigation. The former event is already happening as Comey and Brennan are blaming each other for the use of the Steele dossier in cooking up the whole Russia hoax, see Brennan And Comey Start Pointing At Each Other As Barr’s Prosecutor Closes In. This week, the guy who compiled the dossier on then-candidate Trump, former Brit spy Christopher Steele, has flip-flopped from saying he will not discuss the issue with US authorities to agreeing to meet with DOJ IG Michael Horowitz and probably with Attorney General Bill Barr’s handpicked investigator, US Attorney for Connecticut John Durham, see BREAKING. Christopher Steele Agrees To Be Interviewed By Attorney General Barr’s Investigator.

Now another sign of the coming apocalypse is that a man we know is a target of a federal investigation for leaking official information to the media, former FBI General Counsel James Baker, has said that he’s pretty excited about meeting with both Horowitz and Durham.

Former top FBI lawyer James Baker said this week he is cooperating with the Justice Department inspector general’s investigation.

I have had a longstanding relationship with the inspector general’s office, because I firmly believe in the appropriateness and the need for effective oversight of the FBI,” Baker said in a CNN interview.

Baker took a lead role in reviewing those FISA applications before submitting them to the FISA court. He has said he took the information “seriously” but “not necessarily literally,” and also that he is “nervous” about Horowitz.

Baker told CNN he is also open to helping Attorney General William Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham with their review of the origins of the Russia investigation. He stressed that it was a “small group” who led the FBI’s counterintelligence inquiry into Trump’s campaign, namely former FBI Director James Comey and former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

My personal view is that this is a critical move. Baker knows that they have him by the…uh, I mean, dead to rights on leaking law-enforcement-classified material to the press. He knows he’s dead meat on the FISA warrant applications on Carter Page because the renewals of the FISA warrants on Page were obviously fraudulent and Baker’s deputy, Trisha Anderson, testified to Congress that the original was handled outside usual channels. Even Baker, himself, told Congressional investigators that the Russia probe was handled in an “abnormal fashion” and was rife with “political bias.” It appears that the FBI was very aware of the sketchiness of the Steele dossier and yet copied and pasted entire paragraphs directly into the Page warrant application and Baker was the key man in approving those warrants. But, because he’s just a cog in the machine, Baker ideally placed to be able to make a deal of some sort by spilling his guts. Him making this announcement on television is the best way of telling everyone involved that he is talking and that they should do what they can to minimize their own liability because there is a big bus bearing down on them all, there is plenty of room under it, and that Baker doesn’t intend to be there.
