Sure looks like an M109 SPH which requires side extensions on a lowboy to haul. They do not load over the tail but drop the trailer and back the howitzer on.

I hauled a bunch of them to Abdereen in the late 70's and they were all over width and over weight.

M1's 12ft wide and around 70,000 lbs bare with truck and trailer was 100,000 lbs

We hauled them on a detachable goosneck trailer .

Doesn't the military use the M1070 to haul large track vehicles?

for the smaller tanks and dozers they use m 920's with a detachable goose neck lowboy i have mny hours in both the 920 and the sister to the 109 which is the m578 pig track recovery vehicle

We were using Kentworth tractors and if I remember correctly Trailking lowboys with detachable gooseneck.
They didnt have any fire control in them just the hull, engine, turret, and gun.

I don't know what they were doing with them Aberdeen is a proving grounds.
