I bought a (fixer-upper) house on the creek 4-5 months ago. I'm going to fix this place up and use it for a seasonal rental. Folks from Florida pay $900.00 a week to stay in places like this. (Well, they will when it's finished...)

Replaced the roof a month ago and started on adding some decks. Yesterday I tore off the kitchen counter tops and today we started to install the new granite tops.

Here are some random pics.

By my standards the deck will not be "huge", but by most people's standards it will be large. Whenever possible, I like to incorporate trees into my decks. And this is one of those time!

Random pics of the deck under construction.

Nice, i know where we are staying next time we make it there...
The neighbors tell me there are fish in the creek but I've not seen them. Guess it doesn't matter, you couldn't catch anything anyway...

Wow thats wrong, actually i snagged a really nice red snapper last week right before the weather got bad and the gulf turned angry. Yea it was a scary trip and only one fish, those pop up thunderstorms are no joke. Its about time for another deep sea fishing trip isnt it.

I'm not sure that "snagging" a fish actually qualifies as "catching" him. But maybe...

Nice deck but I don't like your design choice for the rails...
LOL, I'm working on it... We're going to put up 2X2 hog wire. (Sounds bad, I know. But it looks really good!)

Edit: Here's a picture of what it looks like.

I'd like to see that when it's done.

Here's some construction pics of the last deck I did (at my friend's place, the 2 of us built this). I really like these hand rails. 2x10's for the top plate so you can easily hold drinks and even plates on it.

Sure, once your deck is done. I'll sit on it and have a beer with you. ;)

The Mrs. doesn't like me doing these projects much anymore. It took us probably a month of evenings after work and weekends to build it. She didn't see me until bed time.

I do like the way that fence wire looks. How long does it last?

My guess is it's the beer drinking that takes place that bothers her, not so much the deck building part. :whistling:

I would love to buy the Weaver lane house.

It's in one of my favorite areas.

Well done rehab

The wife loves everything she sees.

It's just not in St Louis or Connecticut.

I would like to see it for real.

Nice work Squerly

Putting up a rock wall to extend guest parking. Here is a picture from yesterday and one from today (taken from across the creek.) Also expecting the painter to start power washing the house/guest house on monday or tuesday. A good coat of stain should really start making things look better.
