Spryte 1202 Value ?

Guys, Happy new year! Can you guys let me know if this is a good deal at $9,000 ? I drove it, it runs great, sweet tracks, boggies are 8+ condition, 978 hrs, OC4 has drop boxes and it leaks a bit but seems tight. Interior could be considered a blank canvas.

I think the patina and former boarder patrol lettering are kick ass and would not want to paint over it.

Let me know you thoughts, I have a deposit on her and need to decide pretty quick.

Thank you!

John

Early Spryte in a some what rare factory configuration...

Looks pretty good, but the interior will need lots of TLC.

I would offer them $8K and walk away, and I am I think being generous at that. Two place Sprytes of this vintage unrestored bring half of that.. I say that from experience...

JMHO, your opinion may differ...

Regards, Kirk

its worth he money----here is a sv252 I redid---this cats last job was on building cell towers--it was used in the mud to haul supplies in and out---I did install the rear box----the machine was a cab off /tracks off redo----I own the fab/sandblasting shop---did the machine myself and I have way more than 9 grand into it----and for the inside of the machine your looking at----bed liner works great-----and if you buy at a parts store that mtxes paint you can have it tinted any color if you don't want to shoot it black---most kits come with a gun to shoot it also-------couple beers on a warm winter day

I am feeling a little tight on this one. Full bodied spryte are desirable.
Pro.
full body
pretty straight
C model tracks
Con
five man cab converted (partially)
OC-4 (leaking dark fluid)
C model tracks on a A model Spryte

My gut is thinking those rear axle shafts have their hands full with the traction those J grousers provide. (If you have good airy snow this is not a problem) that should have a 170 in it if its a true A model. if it has been changed to a 240 or 300 ci engine, Great but think again about the Ring an pinion. I really like an A model spryte for over the snow cabin access. if you intend to pull or push consider applying that 9K towards a ski dozer or C model thiokol.

$.02 please

It's a good deal at $8-9k as straight and original. The OC4 is your weak link, runs well just do not abuse. The late Phil Sharpe - Sharpe Engineering SLC whom had probably the most experience with Thiokol gave me the following advice. Drop the clutch, add an automatic transmission and do not shock load the rear end. After finding my 1200A with a broke axle due to dropping the clutch plowing at a resort, I dug into it further with Spryte Improvements - Pat Foster. Pat has redesigned the axles to today's standards with numerous transaxle setup changes. John
