Sure it's not a 300 ?
300 Industrial engine > not originally. 300 truck engine > maybe.

How's that for not much of an answer ? :flowers:

Yea they had them for sure through 1979, there were a lot of years how would a person figure out what year they used in a 1978 so you could purchase the prober spare parts?
Thanks everyone for your help

I did some research and you are right but depending on the year the part numbers are not even close from one year to the next.
So I guess back to the original question how do you know what year the engine is.

Well I think you are right as I just did a bunch of research and from what I could tell the tune up parts are the same from 1965 to 1973 they were even the same for the newer 250 CID non electronic version they also have a kit to change the dist. to electronic I would not want to do that because it is my expeirence when they die not much you can do except replace parts. It also looked like they had used a standard 55 amp alt on the imp.

Oh we'll live and learn

Go to the ford-truck link above and under search enter our alt. ford number d7az-10346-c
or enter b6a-12029-b the second link will give you all most all the ford part numbers for our 200 inline 6 it will give you a wealth of information of what uses our parts and will give you the motor craft part numbers that may have superseded the original part numbers. I was just having fun on a lazy day.
