Cheap Long Distance

Anyone have any recommendations for a cheap long distance service. I'm on Satellite so VOIP and Skype quality aren't good enough for business calls.

My cell phone service isn't that great (on my second provider) either so I think I'm stock with POTS.

I don't mind using calling cards or the equivalent too.

Thanks,

PB

What do you qualify as "cheap"?

Something went across my desk the other day from Verizon. I'm pretty sure it said $39.95/month with unlimited calls.

I have my local with Verizon but (for now) I'm using AT&T for my L/D. I pay something like $7.95 or $8.95/month which covers all 4 phone lines and then I get billed .05 per minute for my L/D calls.

My definition of cheap: No monthly fee and 5 cents a minute.

Anyone getting anything close to this?

Best deal we've found is a $20 phone card at Costco that gives 660 minutes in the US, and good rates overseas as well. (We've had at least one of the kids studying overseas for the past couple of years.)

To keep it simple I have the card's access number and pin programmed on the autodial buttons on all our phones.

Once you have it you can recharge it with your credit card.

That, plus local-only service on the phones at home and out at the ranch, gives low overall cost.

(Except for the DSL option but that doesn't count!)

Thanks - is that a costco branded card or is it from a third party provider?

I just looked at mine. The card says MCI, 670 minutes.

We started with a friend buying the first one for us at Costco before we were members.

You might find something at one of these sites.
We use a plan with World-Exchange (Acceris Communications) that is no longer listed on their website and pay a small monthly fee (2.99) and 4.9cents minute for interstate, and about that for intrastate calls. We don't make a lot of LD calls but have five different phone accounts. Really should cull some of those I guess.
