Dang. at 1:35 and about 2:00 you can see the road which gives perspective as to the blockage caused by the avalanche.
How do they clear that without completely washing out the road and everything downstream? I'd think there's too much water backed up to just let it melt. If that snow dam breaks, all hell is going to break loose.

the news stated last night that water has started to flow under the snow. and also through an old rr tunnel that was built but never used they are expecting to be able to start opening the road in a few days. because the road be is frozen they don't expect any erosion.
