All I want for Xmas is my 2 front upper teeth

I'll try and make this short. 5.5 years ago I was robbed and got my ass kicked. A black guy knocked me unconscience with the butt of his gun while cracking my orbital bone around my eye. He also cracked my 2 upper front teeth. I was left for dead in a bad neighborhood. I dont know how I got there. I woke up the next day in the hospital. I looked in the mirror after getting the power to get up from the bed and my face was scratched very badly, black and blue with my nose broke and my front teeth splintered.

A week later I got out of the hospital. Two days after that I went to the dentist. He filed the teeth down and put caps on them. THey looked great.
Fast forward one year. The 2 teeth started to smell bad. I went to the same dentist. He said that I should floss more and gave me a free toothbrush. :pat:
I went back to him (at the time I didnt have dental insurance) and he said that one of my teeth was cracked above the gumline. He wouldnt do anything.
Fast forward 3 more years. It still smells and now the teeth have shifted to where it is not looking very good. On TOP of that the gums have receeded quite a bit. I havent kissed a woman for more than a year because of my teeth. I havent had anything done because either I HAVE insurance and they wouldnt cover the repairs or I havent had insurance. Either way I havent had any money.
Fast forward one more year. Now my teeth are bad. The cap has cracked and needed spackling in it. The dentist that did it, did a poor job. 5 months later the spackle pops off. I get it re-done. One month later it feels like its going to pop off again. So what does this ass do? He takes a rotary file and drills down the spackle. Now it looks TWICE as bad!!!! :(
So I goto this new chick dentist. I went there yesterday. My new dental insurance just kicked in last week. And they will cover up to $1000 worth of work. yippie. Now Im stuck in the same damn spot. I dont have enough money, but I have insurance. :eek:hyeah: She told me that my bone was wearing away and my gums are in a bad state. They are infected and quickly receding.
Now I tried free or low pay dentists. They have a 3 year waiting line. Thats too long. There wont be anything left in my mouth. I cant borrow any more money from relatives. I JUST paid off my credit card. I cant get a loan because I have bad credit and Im barely making it NOW with all the bills. My teeth look so crapy I dont want to smile and I cant ask a woman out because of the icky scent of the decaying teeth. (I have pics to prove all of this by the way JUST so folks dont think Im 'exagerating' like one of my last posts)

Can anyone give me some ideas? :(

Work out a payment plan with your new dentist. Put as much money down as you can in addition to the $1,000 coverage you have.

Have you considered having them pulled and getting partials?

Yeah I have considered it. Because of the location of the teeth, it would look not so great and would be difficult to eat. Short term solution. I need to just take care of this in one swipe. A bridge or implants are the two options. Dentists wont consider dentures because of my age. After awhile the bone where the teeth are missing will decay because the lack of use.
Whats better? Bridge or implants?

Implants

You'll replace the bridge in 10 years or so. And about every ten years after that.

I guess we have a disagreement!

Bridges are not permanent. Implants become part of the bone structure. A good implant guy will check bone density and structure before installing implants. One that is out for money will install in anything.

Sush - you need to find a highly respected Implant guy, not the cheapest.

Go for the bridge and the time payment plan. Many dentists do have financing arrangements through independent companies for those that can not pay all at once. One plan I heard of recently. has no interest for 6 months. They will pay the dentist up front for his work and finance you. The dentists that work with these plans are happy to work as long as they are paid and the financing companies make good interest on the payee. It is better than hiding at home on Friday and Saturday nights posting on the forums...

OR let the :shitHitFan:

Tonight is the night for you to go out on the town and get wild. Find the best looking chick in the bar with the biggest and toughest looking guy hanging on to her. Tell her that you are going to take her home and do nasty things to her in front of the boyfriend while insinuating he only has a dinky twinky and is also a chickensh!t to boot. When you wake up in the hospital the next morning your front teeth should be gone along with a few other body parts. Claim the medical and dental repairs on the liability insurance of the bar or club you were at the night he attacked you. Then after you get your dental repairs sue the guy for thousands more for assaulting you in a public place and causing complete mental and emotional distress problems that prevent you from ever working again or living a normal life. Then you can join us on the forum 24/7 and never have to work a real job again after receiving your large dollar settlement. :yum:

:smileywac Ehhhhhhhh....... with MY luck the chick will be a lesbian and that guy would be her brother. :yum:

Im leaning towards the implants. And thats good advice Waybomb!
But again, money is the main problem. My credit is for shit even though I have paid most of my debt. No way can I get financing. PLUS.... I'll be BACAK in debt but even worse. I need to take care of my father financially too. This MOTHER f'er has destroyed me financially.
I had to file BK because I was in the hospital because that SOB sent me there. I didnt have medical insurance at the time and the hospital bill crushed me. Now 5.5 years later my credit is still shit even though I just (last week) paid off my credit cards I got 3 years ago. I had to use the cards 3 years ago because I was layed off. They had big lay offs. That was my only way I could get myself afloat.
I wish I could explain how horribly tough the last 6 years have been. :(

You might be able to work out a plan directly with the dentist. That would be a better route than third party financing. That's what I've done in the past and paid no interest.

All the dental insurance plans I've had leave a whole lot to be desired. They pay very little towards any procedure I've ever needed.

As for your gum problems, I had that also. I had to endure deep cleaning where they get all the stuff out that accumulated in my gums. That stuff can be the cause of very bad breath and gum decay. Water Pik to the rescue. It helps me keep my gums healthy. I'd give it a 4 star rating. It's great for anyone having gum problems. It's like flossing with high pressure water. I mix a cap full of Listerine with warm water and the Water Pik does the work. I've come to looking forward to using the silly thing. It makes your mouth feel good.

DS,

Like Doc, I had some (OK, a lot of) gum issues. Check with the dentist to confirm but you may want to take care of that first. It gets worse, and more expensive as time passes.

You now have dental insurance. Good. Does the plan year match the calendar year? Is it prorated for the year? If it's calendar year and not prorated, you have $1000 of insurance to use in the next 25 days. Come January, you have another $1000. With $2000 of benefits available to you within the next 30-60 days, get started.

It sounds like a good idea to dump that dentist you had. Work with the new dentist on how to prioritize your dental needs based on the insurance you have.

Sushi...........my brother is going through kinda the same thing you are with his teeth. He had braces to straighten his teeth when he was a teenager. Two months after he got them out, he was pullilng out on the highway when one transport coming towards him pulled out to pass another one and was in his lane. The transport hit him head on. Thankfully, he had taken the '79 ford Bronco and not the little toyota 1/2 ton we had at the time. The truck was totalled but the only damage to my bro was that his two front teeth got knocked out when his head hit the steering wheel. He had partials at first then got then implants.

Fast forward 14 years.........now, he's starting to have major problems with his implants. His gums became all infected and he says his mouth hurts soo bad that he can only drink his supper from a straw. He's gone to the city right now to have the implants removed and get re-fitted with the partials.

My point with all this is that implants are not always a fool-proof solution to fix the problem. It's up to you to decide which way to go.

Implants have gone a long way. The newest tool they use now actual scans your old tooth and root and makes an exact copy. BUT I guess it depends on the situation. Sushi ask this new dentist what she thinks you should have done. Tell her you want whatever is done to be the longest lasting.

Here is the latest from my dentist. She emailed me about a question I had:
Hi Paul,

So, you dislike #10. We touched on that slightly. It's essentially an esthetic issue.
The treatment necessary to correct the angulation of #10 is very much dependent on what kind of treatment is chosen for #8 and #9.

If you chose to go with a bridge, there is no additional treatment needed. #10 will be built into the bridge and its shape/shade will be determined by that restoration.

If you go with an implant ... #10 will need to be dealt with independently. It can be placed back into position orthodontically, with braces, invisalign or a removable orthodontic appliance. The position can also be corrected using a veneer (a procelain restoration that is bonded on top of the tooth to change the position or shade).

Again, I hope this helps.
MA

So whatdo you guys think I should do NOW? :confused2:

You know yourself better than anyone else does. Find out what it is going to take to maintain your teeth with either of your choices and decide which option you are most willing to live with. Once the dental work is completed, it must be maintained by your own home care and periodic maintenance by a professional dentist. Pick the option that best fits what you are willing to do. One option might be considerably more expensive than the other, or may require more dilligent home care on your part. Only you can decide which option is best for YOU.

Whatever you do, get it done ASAP. You will feel better about yourself when you get your teeth fixed, and that will likely result in better job performance and a better social life; meaning you'll more easily get laid, and hopefully find the girl of your dreams. :boobies:
