Just finished peeling the last of the pears. We have canned most of them but now the wife is looking at some more exotic recipes for the rest. Good day for working inside as we are finally getting some rain. More corn tomorrow. At least we are setting good for a variety of food for a good while. Still have more damn tomatoes in the garden.

Hey Muleman,

How do you ripen your pears? Do you pick them and then refrigerate them? I've never gotten "ripe" pears off my trees. I tried refrigerating some this year and just took them out yesterday to finish ripening.

Thanks,

PB

I bought these from a mennonite guy. We spread a bushel out on the countertops for 2 days. Used a peeler to skin them while the wife cores and chunks them.

I ate quite a few pieces as we worked on them. Should have some ready for you by 6pm!
