EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police say a doughnut truck driver was revived by a state trooper after slipping into a diabetic coma and driving off of a southwestern Indiana roadway.
The 35-year-old driver from Henderson, Ky., was delivering Krispy Kreme doughnuts to convenience stores when he became unresponsive early Monday and drove his vehicle off the roadway.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports that a state trooper patrolling along State Road 62 in Vanderburgh County approached the truck and discovered the driver comatose and unable to speak.
A second state trooper who arrived at the scene suspected that the driver was diabetic and he and a sheriff's deputy administered a tube of glucose. The driver revived within a few minutes and was able to speak to the troopers.
