Mercedes Motor in a Pisten Bully?

Just curious here... I saw this PB on ebay and the pics of the Motor shows a
OM 616 4 cylinder Diesel.

I dirve a 4 cyl Mercedes 240 D OM616 Diesel and that motor only puts out 60 HP peak at 2500- 3000 rpm.
( 26 HP at the rear wheels on a dyno)
Is this an original factory motor?...cause I just can't see that motor putting out enough power to move a 6k cat. Seems like a great bullet proof motor in the wrong application.
Even with low gears those engines are not low end luggers.

Somebody school me here.

all the early pisten bullys had mecedes diesel motors in them, the newer ones are mostly cummins, the 060 was a non turbo motor, the 070 had the turbo, big difference in power,

It's amazing what hydraulics/hydrostatic drive can do !
The motor in my 16,000 pound backhoe is a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder diesel with 75 hp. I have never considered it underpowered.

Look at the guy in the photo ,he's happy cause he just found this in the dumpster (in the background)and he's claiming it.... :yum: looks like the cleats are about shot, radiator looks like it leaks, interior is trashed. which it just leads me to believe the pumps and motors are almost toast or ready to go....
