Cab size of Snow Trac?

I've been admiring all the pictures of the Snow Trac's.

As I've seen them with people either inside or standing beside them, I've come to realize they're much smaller than I initially thought.

I found some specs in one of Bob's posts that list the whole machine as being approximately 6'x12'. (1.9x3.64 meters).

How big does that make the passenger compartment? 4'x6'? How many people can you seat?

Brian, they seat 6 to 7 people. The cabin is about the size of a old Land Rover Defender and is configured the same way with side facing bench seats behind the driver. 2 sit directly behind the driver, they face 2 other passengers. Then 2 more can sit to the right side of the driver, facing the driver. For 6 passengers plus the driver. From the standpoint of comfort, a total of 5 or 6 is a better fit. As for the dimensions of the cab, it is just under 4' wide, but it is probably about 7' long.

As for overall size, think of a vehicle footprint about the size of a Ford Escort.

7 people no problem. When you tell people that when they are next to it they think NO WAY! Then they look in and see the bench seats.

Depends on the size of the people - many years ago, when I was teaching, I had thirteen in a Morris Minor - they were junior school children and it was raining!!

As for the dimensions of the cab said:
Bob,
That is surprising ! The Snow Trac looks much larger than 4'wide . I would say it is a little smaller than a Kristi KT3 based on this information . I do like your set up on seating better than the cross seats my KT3 has now . I might have to look into changing over to your style if it is possible . Kristi seemed to like putting in passenger seats facing backwards for some reason.
I guess no one wanted to see where they were going just where they had been ....

My Snow Trac is 6'2" wide from the outside of the right track to the outside of the left track. There is a cargo shelf on either side of the exterior cab that is just about a foot wide over the top of the tracks. The tracks extend a couple inches past the cargo shelf.

So from a rough measurement standpoint, that would leave the inside of the cab at slightly under 4' wide. Its actually got a fairly spacious feel to it because it is like a large rectangular box with windows all around and a large sunroof. The central aisle makes it easy to get in and out and while I have not carried much in it, it would be easy to load with gear/cargo. The most cramped area is actually getting into/out of the driver's seat and I find the seat does not go back far enough for my liking but it is still very serviceable.

Mike ,

Since your over 8'6" ,do you need a special moving permit to haul on the major highways??? In California ,I believe it would be required .
