In case you are out of snow and want to practice the driving experience ... :drive2:

. . . NEW EXTREME MOUNT WASHINGTON
A must stop on any visit to the valley is the Mount Washington Observatory's all-new “EXTREME Mount Washington” museum, housed within the state-owned Sherman Adams Building in Mount Washington State Park atop 6,288-foot Mount Washington. Be sure to try your hand at the interactive throttle on the exhibit's simulated snowcat drive. The exhibit is designed to bring a Mount Washington winter experience to summer visitors. Mount Washington is, after all, “Home to the World's Worst Weather,” and where the previous World Record Wind of 231 mph was recorded by the observatory staff on April 12, 1934.

You'll also want to visit the observatory's Weather Discovery Center (356-2137) in North Conway, where you'll find weather exhibits, a wind room that allows you to experience the record wind, and twice-daily interactive video hookups with the summit staff. . . .
I'm actually kind of curious.

Has anyone tried a "simulator" and are they even close to realistic?

Spent 5 weeks up there last Summer's end, it's beautiful. Had the bike up there for 2 weeks and it's a riding paradise. Went up the mountain twice, oh what fun and a little harrowing the first time. I can't believe there isn't more accidents. Make sure your brakes are on tip top shape!

First I've heard of it. The wife did the Presidential Traverse (http://home.earthlink.net/~ellozy/presidential-traverse.html) last week with a couple of friends, but after spending the day getting to Washington from the Madison end, she said she had no interest in 'checking stuff out' up there other than to refill on water, snap a quick pic, and head to Lake of the Clouds hut to drop for the night. Now I'm going to have to drive up and try it!
