Tucker Carlson is not to blame for California’s bad reputation, Gavin Newsom is

It’s no secret that the state of California is overtly hostile to taxpayers, homeowners and businesses alike. Unless, of course, you ask Gov. Gavin Newsom, who thinks that the Golden State would be killing it on Yelp if it weren’t for the Fox News primetime line-up.
While speaking to the California Chamber of Commerce, Gov. Newsom declared, “I get why so many of you often seem in despair about this state. I watch Fox News, as well. Poor Tucker Carlson.”
Blaming Tucker Carlson for people leaving the state is like having a fever and blaming the thermometer.
Tucker isn’t responsible for our high taxes, crippling regulations, horrendous traffic, exploding homeless population or crime rate, Gavin Newsom is.
And people are getting out in a hurry. According to the latest data, it looks like fed-up Californians are fleeing the state with just the yoga mats on their backs and as much kale as they can carry.
According to the Sacramento Bee, last year 130,000 more people left California than moved here. If this keeps up we’re going to have to build a bullet train just to get them all out.
This exodus has cost the state $58.6 billion in taxable earnings from 1995 to 2010. Or as Jeff Bezos would call it, “a bad week.”
The sad reality is that these numbers could be a whole lot worse. I’m guessing legalizing pot probably helped stem the flow a little — some of us are just too stoned to leave.
Here’s the real reason California’s business climate has a horrid reputation — the nonpartisan Tax Foundation ranked California’s business tax climate 49th in the nation, Chief Executive Magazine labeled California as the worst state in which to do business and the American Tort Reform Foundation ranked California as being among the worst “Judicial Hellholes” for business.
In 2016 alone, a record 1,800 companies either relocated or “disinvested” from the state entirely.
But don’t tell that to Sacramento’s ruling elite. Like Newsom, legislative Democrats think everything is just peachy.
In a debate on the floor of the California state Senate, Santa Barbara Democrat Hannah Beth Jackson said, “It’s a fiction we keep hearing about all of these people leaving California.”
Maybe she just thinks that the science on the state exodus isn’t settled, and most of it’s not man-made. It would be interesting to find out if Jackson thinks that California earthquakes are a hoax too.
At the same time that Newsom and company are chasing businesses and taxpayers out of the state in record numbers, they’re concocting other ways to coax people across the Golden Gate from other states.
Their most recent plan is abortion tourism. Come for the theme parks, stay for the late-term abortions!
Not long after new abortion restrictions were passed in Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, Mississippi and Georgia, Newsom issued a written statement that read, “California will continue to uphold women’s equality and liberty by protecting their reproductive freedom, educating Californians about their rights to reproductive freedom, welcoming women to California to fully exercise their reproductive rights and acting as a model for other states that want to ensure full reproductive freedom for women.”
I guess abortion tourism could really help our economy — just think of the package deals from United Airlines, Hilton Hotels and Planned Parenthood.
